USCM & Google Empower Cities with New AI Summit Guide

In a New Era of American Innovation, artificial intelligence presents a tremendous opportunity to help America become stronger, safer, and more competitive than ever before. Across the United States, cities are exploring how AI can help them improve services and enhance the quality of life for residents. From enabling safer roads through targeted repairs to giving public service employees time to focus on more strategic priorities, AI can dramatically improve how local governments achieve their goals.

While AI offers incredible possibilities to help communities thrive, not every city uses or has access to these powerful new tools. This creates a real risk of an "AI divide," where some communities may get left behind. To help cities develop an AI strategy and adopt AI tools, Google has partnered with the U.S. Conference of Mayors (USCM) to develop an “AI Roadmap for America's Mayors".

This guide empowers city leaders by providing them with a framework to plan and host their own AI adoption summits. Modeled after successful approaches, it offers steps to engage city staff and community partners, understand their unique needs through surveys, learn from AI success stories from other cities, and facilitate discussions on potential AI use cases relevant to different city departments. The guide ultimately aims to help cities begin the process of drafting their own AI strategies.Google is dedicated to empowering city governments to responsibly leverage AI by being bold and responsible together.
