Identity theft is the fastest-growing crime in America. I started Hush to address this growing vulnerability.

Years ago, while running WealthX, the largest database of information on wealthy people globally, I was shocked to learn how quickly cybersecurity threats can become personal. When foreign intelligence groups, oligarchs, and organized crime syndicates wanted access to our database, we realized there was a need for a solution that effectively protects individuals.

This realization became a pivotal moment—a catalyst for us to develop our own solution and potentially address a broader, critical need.

Fast forward a few years, after selling WealthX and working in consumer data, I witnessed the problem on a massive scale. When I decided to launch Hush, I came back to Detroit after having been gone twenty some years. We think there’s a kind of grit here that goes hand-in-hand with cybersecurity, and there’s a huge local resurgence around tech.

In reality, everyone needs this kind of protection. Our AI pulls threads across the web to find any potentially vulnerable information about people. Then we categorize these vulnerabilities and give members the option to "hush" certain items. We hear all the time from customers that once their spam calls start dropping, they get that peace of mind from being no longer findable.

AI is as core to my workflow as it is integral to our product. As a startup founder, I’m constantly switching tasks. Gemini for Google Workspace helps me stay efficient and gives me confidence that we’re pushing out high-quality content. And from a content perspective, we're probably saving at least 50% of our time.

Whether I'm drafting emails or creating marketing materials, Gemini for Workspace significantly enhances my productivity. Everything needs to be custom, which is very time-consuming. With Google’s AI tools, I can create a personalized message that talks about a client’s business, our capabilities, and relevant news. Similarly, for marketing collateral, I need to quickly generate everything from case studies to reports. I can write something almost stream-of-consciousness, and Gemini in Docs helps refine it in a more formal tone.

Moving forward, cybersecurity is becoming increasingly critical as threats are becoming more targeted. We’re expanding our efforts in these areas, exploring partnerships with government agencies, and implementing training programs. We’re also researching solutions for the future of AI, including deepfake detection and synthetic identity protection.

I think AI is a competitive requirement for future business success. AI’s potential for innovation is immense, and early adopters will undoubtedly gain a competitive advantage, much like businesses that embraced the Internet in the early 2000s.
